| biography:
| British croquet player. He made his international debut against New Zealand in 1950 at age 19, and never missed an England Test Match between 1950 and 1973. He won a record 10 Open Croquet Championships (1953, 1956, 1959, 1961, 1963–8), the Men's Championship 10 times between 1951 and 1972, the Open Doubles Championship 10 times (all with Edmond Cotter) between 1954 and 1969, and the Mixed Doubles title once (with Freda Oddie) in 1954. He was winner of the President's Cup a record nine times. |
