| Anglican clergyman and writer, born in London, UK. He studied at Cambridge, and became curate, then rector (1945–75) at All Souls, Langham Place, London. Widely acknowledged as a leading spokesman for Anglican Evangelicals, he has preached internationally, and been a royal chaplain since 1959. He was director of the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (1982–6) and subsequently became its president. His many books include Basic Christianity (1958), Our Guilty Silence (1967), Issues facing Christians Today (1984), The Message of Acts (1990), and The Message of Timothy and Titus (1996). |
