| biography:
| Theatrical producer, born in Birmingham, West Midlands, C England, UK. He became stage manager at Sadler's Wells in 1953, and in 1960 joined the Covent Garden Opera Company as deputy stage manager, becoming resident producer in 1972. He has produced for many opera houses and festivals in Europe, the USA, and Canada, and has had a long and successful connection with the Australian Opera. Later productions include Pique Dame (1993) and Peter Grimes (1998), both for San Francisco Opera, La Rondine (1996) for Opera Theatre of St Louis, and Semele (1996) for the Covent Garden Opera Company, London. |
