| Film director, born in Lafayette, Indiana, USA. By age 16 he was making amateur films, and in college he made animated television commercials. In the mid-1960s he was writing, directing, and producing low-budget films, such as Crazy Quilt (1966), and the documentary Who Are the De Bolts?... And Where Did They Get 19 Kids? (1977) won him an Oscar. He has also made films for television. |
