| Physiologist, born in Clunie, Perth and Kinross, E Scotland, UK. He studied at Aberdeen, Leipzig, and Cambridge, and became professor of physiology at Cleveland, OH (1903), Toronto (1918), and Aberdeen (1928). In 1922 he discovered insulin with Sir Frederick Banting and Charles Best, and shared the 1923 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine. |
