| Jurist, born in Creeting Mill, Suffolk, E England, UK. In 1818 he was called to the bar at the Inner Temple, London, and was appointed professor of jurisprudence in the University of London (1826–32). His Province of Jurisprudence Determined (1832), defining the sphere of ethics and law, came to revolutionize English views on the subject. |
