| Parisian publisher, born in London, UK. With his brother William (1798–1882) he greatly improved Galignani's Messenger, started in Paris by their father in 1814, and made it a medium for advocating cordiality between England and France. The brothers founded at Corbeil a hospital for Englishmen; and in 1889 the Galignani Home for aged printers and booksellers was opened at Neuilly. |
