| Chemist, born in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset. He graduated from Cambridge in mathematics in 1951, and taught at Northwestern University, IL. He shared the 1998 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his contribution to methods that can be used for theoretical studies of the properties of molecules and the chemical processes in which they are involved - specifically, for his development of computational methods in quantum chemistry. |
