| Poet and philosopher, born in Nieuwer-Amstel, N Netherlands. He studied law and medicine in Utrecht, became a lawyer, and in 1817 was appointed professor at Liège University, Belgium. He contributed to many magazines and was a critical opponent of Rhijnvis Feith. As a philosopher he was a follower of Kant. |
