| biography:
| Baroque writer and musician, born in St Georgen, Austria. He served as court composer and lyricist to the Herzog (Duke) von Weißenfels. It was not until the 20th-c that he won fame for his narratives, reminiscent of folk tale and fable, such as Teutsche Winter-Naechte (1682) and Die kurzweiligen Sommer-Täge (1683). His best-known novel is probably Der berühmte Narren-Spital (1681). |
