| Composer, born in Sagunto, E Spain. Although blind from the age of three, he studied music with Dukas in Paris (1927–33), and travelled widely before settling in Madrid in 1939. He is best known for his compositions for guitar, and following the successful first performance of his work Concierto de Aranjuez in Barcelona (1940), he became generally regarded as the leading post-Civil War Spanish composer. |
