| Film actress, born in Cloquet, Minnesota, USA. She studied at the University of Michigan and the Opera Comique in Paris. After her first film, the 1976 remake of King Kong, she won acclaim for her performance in The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981). She received an Oscar nomination as Best Actress for her role in Frances (1982), and won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Tootsie (1982). Later films include Cape Fear (1991), Rob Roy (1995), and Cousin Bette (1998). |
