| biography:
| Priest, born in Okopy, Poland. Serving in Warsaw parishes after ordination, he became an outspoken supporter of the Solidarity trade union, especially when it was banned in 1981. His sermons at ‘Masses for the Country’ regularly held in St Stanislaw Kostka Church were widely acclaimed. He ignored harassment and resisted official moves to have him silenced, but was kidnapped and murdered by the secret police in 1984. |
