| Carmelite poet and historian, known in the world as Jerónimo de Ezquerra y Rosas, born in Mallén, Zaragoza, NEC Spain. A disciple and admirer of the Aragonese poet Bartolomé Leonardo de Argensola, he composed an exquisite sonnet on the theme of vita brevis entitled ‘Vita nostra vapor admodicum parens’. During his lifetime, he published Historia del carmen descalzo (1637), Vida de S Juan de la Cruz (1641), and Genio de la historia (Zaragoza, 1651). |
