biography: Autobiographer, of Aragonese origin. He fought at Lepanto (1571) and at Tunis (1573), was a captive of the Moors 1574–92. On his return to Spain published a lively and spirited account of his experiences, Vida y trabajos, edited by R. Foulché-Delbosc in Revue Hispanique, Vol. 55 (1922) and again in Vol. 90 (1956) of the Biblioteca de Autores Españoles.
