| Poet, born in Valladolid, NWC Spain. A protégé of the Conde de Miranda, he wrote epistles, elegies, sonnets, and epigrams in the style of Petrarch, Bembo, Sannazaro, and Tasso. His Obras (1578), praised by Cervantes in his Canto de Caliope, also include verses in traditional Castilian metres influenced by Silvestre and Castillejo. |
