| Theologian, probably born in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EC England, UK. He studied at Cambridge, became a fellow of All Souls College, Oxford (1636), chaplain to Archbishop Laud, and rector of Uppingham (1638). During the Civil War he is said to have accompanied the Royal Army as chaplain, and was taken prisoner at Cardigan Castle (1645). After the downfall of the cause he sought shelter in Wales, kept a school, and found a patron in the Earl of Carbery. His works include The Liberty of Prophesying (1646), The Rule and Exercises of Holy Living (1650), and The Rule and Exercises of Holy Dying (1651). |
