| biography:
| The greatest woman cyclist, born in Annecy, E France. She won three Tour de France (Tour Feminine, 1987–9) and 11 World Championship titles. She was 29 times French Champion, Olympic Road Race Champion in 1996, and beat the world hour record seven times. In 2001 she won the women's time trial at the World Road Racing Championships, regaining the title she first won in 1995, when the women's time trial was first raced at the championships. |
