| Protestant reformer, born in Bourg, SW France. A former member of the Jesuits, he became a Pietist and a Calvinist convert in 1650. He preached a return to primitive Christianity in Holland, and was excommunicated from the Reformed Church in 1670, whereupon he moved his Labadist colony to Germany. |
