| Entomologist and naturalist, born in Paris, France. Trained as a doctor, he became professor of entomology at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. He was co-author of the Dictionnaire classique d'histoire naturelle (1822), and compiled the ornithological section of the compendious Description de l'Égypte (1826). Audouin's gull was named after him. |
