| Film actress, born in London, UK. She made her first film appearance in Give Up The Moon (1942), and had minor parts in a number of British films before going to Hollywood in 1950, where she became a leading star of the following decade. Her films include The Robe (1953), Guys and Dolls (1955), The Big Country (1958), Spartacus (1960), and How to Make an American Quilt (1995). During the 1980s she appeared in several television productions, including The Thorn Birds (1983) and Great Expectations (1989). |
