| biography:
| British television executive, presenter, and journalist. A columnist and fashion writer for leading magazines and newspapers, she entered independent television in 1975 as a presenter, moving on to devise such programmes as Get Fresh for ITV and Bliss and Network 7 for Channel 4. She joined the BBC as head of Youth and Entertainment Features (1988–94) and was appointed managing director of the cable channel Live TV for the Mirror Group (1994–5). In 1996 she became director and co-founder of Screaming Productions, and was appointed editor of the Independent on Sunday (1999–2001), becoming its editor-at-large in 2001. She received the BAFTA Award for originality in 1988. |
