| Mistress of Edward IV, born in London, UK. She married William Shore, a goldsmith, but in 1470 became the mistress of Edward IV. Her husband abandoned her, but she lived till Edward's death in 1483 in luxury. Thereafter she became the mistress of Thomas Grey, 1st Marquess of Dorset. A liaison with William, Lord Hastings, alienated her from Richard III just before he seized power (1483), and he forced her to do public penance. She never recovered, and died a beggar. |
