| Actress and cake designer, born in London, UK. She studied at North Bridge House and Miss Lambert's Parents' National Educational Union. From 1957 she performed regularly in the theatre and on television, her films including Alfie (1966), Henry VIII and His Six Wives (1970), Paris By Night (1988), and Closing Numbers (1994). Later stage work included roles in Alan Ayckbourn's plays House and Gardens (2000). Among her many books on baking are Calendar of Cakes (1989) and Jane Asher's Complete Book of Cake Decorating Ideas (1993), and she is proprietor of Jane Asher's Party Cakes Shop and Tea Room in Chelsea, London. She is married to the cartoonist Gerald Scarfe. |
