| biography:
| Organist and composer, born in Oldesloe or Helsingborg, SW Sweden (formerly in Denmark). In 1668 he was appointed organist at the Marienkirche, Lübeck, where he began the famous Abendmusiken - Advent evening concerts of his own sacred music and organ works. In 1705 Bach walked c.200 mi across Germany, and Handel travelled from Hamburg, to attend his concerts. |
