| Poet and etcher, born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He worked as an etcher, mainly producing etches for emblem books and bibles, and also illustrated his own literary work. At first he produced amorous poems, and wrote about nature, but later his work became more religious and mystical, influenced by the German mystic Jacob Böhme. |
