| Composer and pianist, born in Čáslav, C Czech Republic. In Amsterdam he produced his earliest works for the piano, and he was very popular in London (1788–1800). He was instructor to Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia (1803–6), and in 1808 entered Talleyrand's service. He composed over 30 sonatas. |
