| Poet, born in Haarlem, W Netherlands. He was a student of medicine, but never completed his studies. His first poetry, Fietsen op de Mont Ventoux (Cycling on the Mont Ventoux), appeared in 1974. He writes only sonnets, which has given him an exceptional position in Dutch literature. In addition, he reworked the well-known fairy-tale of Cinderella into sonnet verse in Assepoester, and adapted translations of Chinese poetry in Chinese sonnetten (1984, Chinese Sonnets). |
