| biography:
| Poet and art historian, born in Rotterdam, W Netherlands. A co-founder of the literary magazine Tirade, he published his first essay in Criterium, a literary magazine in the Forum tradition. In his poems, essays, and aphorisms, he displayed a biting relativism as a means of escaping his existence: fear and aggression are important themes in his work. By means of intellectualism, irony, and self-mockery he tried to come to terms with his own vulnerability. Together with Herzberg and Kopland, he was classified as a so-called Tirade poet, denoting their use of plain language in free verse. He committed suicide in 1971. |
