| biography:
| Writer, born in Dundee, E Scotland, UK. He studied dentistry, but turned to writing, and in 1899 became a sub-editor on The Scotsman newspaper, and subsequently the British Weekly (1906–9). Some of his poetry is collected in The Phoenix (1924) and Weirds and Vanities (1927). An authority on folklore and mythology, he wrote numerous books on the subject. He was one of the founder members of the National Party of Scotland (1928). |
