| Writer, born in Fürth, SC Germany. He was a contributor to the periodical Simplicissimus, and a friend of Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Arthur Schnitzler, and Thomas Mann. His exciting novels, which feature Jewish culture and background, were extremely popular in the 1920s and 1930s until he was denounced by the Nazi regime. They include Die Juden von Zirndorf (1897), Der Moloch (1903), and the Andergast trilogy (1928–34). |
