| biography:
| Motor-racing driver, born in Quebec, SE Canada. His father, Giles Villeneuve, also a racing driver, moved the family to Monaco in 1978, but at the age of 17 Jacques returned to Quebec to begin his racing career. In 1994, in his first season on the Indy Car circuit, he was named Rookie of the Year, and in 1995 became the youngest driver to win the PPG Indy Car World Series title. He joined Formula One in 1996, driving for the Williams-Renault team, finished second in the World Driver's Championship, and won the Championship in 1997. |
