| Poet, born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, NC France. He was involved with the Surrealists, and wrote songs, pieces for cabaret, and scenarios for Renoir, as well as the screenplay for the celebrated film, Les Enfants du Paradis (1946, The Children of Paradise). The piquant mixture of wit and sentiment in his poetry proved very popular; collections include Paroles (1946, Words), La Pluie et le beau temps (1955, Rain and Fine Weather), and Choses et autres (1972, Things and Others). |
