| Architect, born in Paris, France. He brought a simplified adaptation of the Baroque style into use in France. His first major work, the N wing of the Château de Blois, featured the double-angled high-pitched roof which now bears his name. His churches include Sainte-Marie de Chaillot, Sainte-Marie de la Visitation, and Val-de-Grâce, and he built or remodelled several notable buildings in Paris and elsewhere. |
