biography: Mime artist and director, born in Paris, France. He was an actor with the Compagnie des Comédiens in Grenoble (1945), teacher-director with the Padua University Theatre, Italy (1948), and a member of the Piccolo Theatre in Milan (1951). In 1956 he returned to Paris and established the Ecole Internationale de Mime et de Théâtre. He formed his own company in 1959, and began his research into the various theatrical genres in terms of the actor's physical movement on the stage.
