| Preacher and philanthropist, born in Paris, France. He studied theology in the Sorbonne, was ordained in 1755, and looked after the parish of Saint-Jacques-du-Haut-Pas for the rest of his life. Renowned for his preaching, he also set up and financed a hospital for the poor of his parish in 1780, which still bears his name. |
