| Venetian painter and engraver. He worked from 1500 in Germany (where he was known as Jakob Walch) and the Netherlands. From 1510 he was court painter at Brussels. He is chiefly noted for his engravings, mainly of mythological figures, which were influential in the development of N European graphic art. |
