| biography:
| Painter of the Venetian School, born in Serinalta, NE Italy. He is particularly remembered for the ample blonde women who appear in many of his works, which were often sacred subjects or portrait groups, notably ‘Three Sisters’ (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, Dresden). His brother's grandson, Jacopo (1544–1628), called il Giovane (‘the Younger’), was a prolific painter of religious pictures in a style influenced by Tintoretto and late Titian. |
