| Poet and writer, born in Deventer, C Netherlands. He studied theology, worked as a preacher in Deventer, and revised the Dutch State Bible. A fervent Calvinist, he wrote passionately against the Roman Catholic Church and the Spaniards. In addition to poetry, he wrote the history of his birthplace, Daventriae Illustratae (1651). |
