| Painter, born in London, UK. He studied at the Royal Academy. Painting in a semi-abstract style with obvious roots in Cubism, he always retained a strongly expressive feeling for natural forms, especially in the wide, horizontal landscapes which he painted from 1936. His first retrospective exhibition was in Leeds in 1945, after which he had many one-man shows in Europe and America. |
