| Queen consort of England, the wife of King John, whom she married in 1200. In 1214 she was imprisoned by John at Gloucester, and after his death in 1216 returned to France, where she married a former lover, the Comte de la Marche, in 1220. Isabella was the mother of Henry III. Her daughter by John, Isabella (1214–41), married Emperor Frederick II. |
