| Ironmaster, probably born in Virginia, USA. He arrived in W Pennsylvania c.1771 and established Union Furnace by 1791. Here and at other locations, he manufactured the kitchenware and tools needed by the thousands of people coming over the Allegheny mountains. He contributed to the start of W Pennsylvania's iron and coal industry. |
