| Psychiatrist and educator, born in Washington, District of Columbia, USA. A Boston University MD, he taught psychiatry at Stanford's medical school (1962), where he also directed the Adult Psychiatry Clinic (1973). He was an influential proponent of the existential approach to psychotherapy, and his books include The Theory and Practice of Group Psychotherapy (1970, later revised) and Existential Psychotherapy (1980). |
