| biography:
| Pope, born in Monts-lez-Beyssac, WC France. He was elected pope at Avignon in 1352 and conducted a campaign to reform religious orders. In 1353 he sent to Italy the cardinal of Albornoz and Cola di Rienzo to reorganize the Papal States. He did not oppose the Golden Bull, although it removed from the pope the right to have a say in the emeperor's election. |
