| Actor, born in Riaño, Léon, N Spain. While studying electronics at the Universidad Laboral de Eibar he was attracted to the theatre, got involved in various local plays, abandoned his studies at the age of 19, and went to live in Madrid. There he attracted the attention of Alfonso Marsillach, who offered him work in the Centro Dramático Nacional. His film successes include Laberinto de pasiones (1982, director Pedro Almodóvar), Demonios en el Jardín (1982, director Manuel Gutiérrez), Bearn (1982, director Jaime Chávarri), La muerte de Mikel (1983, director, Imanol Uribe), El Lute, camina o revienta (1987, director Vicente Aranda), Una mujer bajo la lluvia (1992, director Gerardo Vera), and La flor de mi secreto (1995, director Pedro Almodóvar). He later played major rôles in television series such as Anillos de oro and Brigada Central. |
