| biography:
| Poet and journalist, born in Durban, E South Africa. He became an ardent admirer of all things Spanish, and fought with Franco's armies during the Civil War. His books of poetry include The Flaming Terrapin (1924), The Wayzgoose (1928), and Flowering Rifle (1939). A collected edition of his poems appeared in 1949, and the autobiographical Light on a Dark Horse in 1951. |
