| Brewer, born in St Louis, Missouri, USA. He joined the family firm, Anheuser-Busch (1957) and rose through management, becoming vice-president and general manager (1965–74), president (1975–9), chief executive officer (1975) and chairman (1977). He was also chairman and president of Anheuser Busch Companies, Inc (1979). During his tenure, the firm greatly increased its marketing budget and promotional tactics, became a major advertiser on television, and made its Budweiser brand consistently one of the best-selling beers in America. |
