| Sculptor, born in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. She studied at Christian College, Columbia, MO and lived in Washington, DC. The first woman sculptor to be commissioned by the US government, she created a marble statue of Lincoln for the rotunda in Washington, DC (1866–71). |
