| Business executive and philanthropist, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The son of Henry John Heinz, he entered his father's food company (1900) and became president (1919). His leadership of H J Heinz Co produced excellent advertising and large numbers of travelling salesmen. He directed food relief in SE Europe and Turkey after World War 1, and among other philanthropies he endowed the Howard Heinz Students' International Fund at Yale University. |
