| Stage director, born in Reading, S England, UK. After taking a director's course at Bristol University, he became associate director of Bristol Old Vic, and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in 1975. He became an associate director to establish and run the Warehouse, the RSC's London studio theatre (1977–82), and a National Theatre associate director in 1988. Later productions include Mary Stuart (1996), Chips With Everything (1997), and The Iceman Cometh (1998). |
